What in the world is Brainspotting? I’m glad you asked! Before I answer that though, let me ask you a quick question: “what did you eat for lunch two days ago?”……. (thinking…….. thinking…..) As you were thinking about the answer, did you look off from your screen to think about the answer? If so, that particular eye position helped you to access that information in your brain. Amazing right?!? This is how Brainspotting works. It works by helping you to find an eye position in your visual field that connects to an experience that is held in your body. Brainspotting gives access to release stuck points in our deep brain, which is where we hold on to deep seated emotional pains and longstanding issues. It is modern, cutting edge, and…it works. "Where you look affects how you feel." Reach out and let’s find a brainspot to start your healing!
This is your typical one-on-one session that is focused 100% on you! How wonderful, right? You don’t have to worry about other folks interrupting you, or trying to find the right word to say, messing up and saying the wrong thing, or having to look stronger than you really feel. None of that. It is full permission to show up. Individual sessions are used to focus on the issue that is causing discomfort and dis-ease in your life. Often times these issues are connected to longstanding experiences, patterns of behaviors, and relationships. The individual session is where we sort this out – reach out to schedule your test drive consult today!
We heal in community, and group therapy is a great way to build community. It is an opportunity to gain skills in a group of about 5 – 8 people. This may sound excruciating for some, and exquisite to others – AND, groups can be such a great healing space. We respond positively to being a part of something and feeling connected to others. Also, we can give and receive feedback about what we bring to the session, and this furthers our healing process. Group therapy builds supports and skills. Metaspace has several groups throughout the year – check out our events page for more information.
Oftentimes we build a great relationship with a therapist and need additional support for ongoing healing. It can be distressing to leave the current familiarity of the relationship, and this is where co-therapy can be beneficial. This looks exactly how it sounds: you have two therapists for a period of time to help support your healing. Metaspace uses this strategy when addressing emotional stuck points related to trauma, substance use, or in tandem with family therapy. We develop a plan for you based on your needs while collaborating with your
primary therapist. *Additional costs apply for co-therapy discovery sessions, updates, and reports.
If you are a therapist seeking to refer a patient for Brainspotting or trauma- supported care for the patient’s healing process, co-therapy is a great way to collaborate. Give us a call to see if this is a good fit for you.
Virtual sessions give you more access, period. Gone are the days where you can only select therapists in your area. Nope, you no longer have to share your 1st cousin’s therapist…well, you still can, but you certainly don’t have to worry about running into them during your office visit. Virtual sessions give you access to therapists all over North Carolina. How wonderful is THAT? We use a secure HIPAA-compliant platform in the convenience & comfort of your chosen space.
